What is the Mentorship Program?
The Boys & Girls Club of Waynesboro, Staunton, and Augusta County is launching a structured mentorship program that pairs caring, committed adults with Club members who benefit from additional guidance, connection, and support.
Mentors play a meaningful role in helping young people build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and feel a stronger sense of belonging within the Club. Mentoring relationships are built intentionally, supported by Club staff, and grounded in trauma-informed, youth-centered practices.
Our mentorship program operates at our Waynesboro and Staunton Club locations and is designed to provide consistency, safety, and positive adult connection for participating youth.
How Does the Program Work?
Mentors commit to consistent, scheduled time with their assigned mentee(s).
All mentoring takes place on-site at the Club during approved program times
Mentors are supported by Club staff and program leadership
Screening, training, and onboarding are required to ensure a safe and positive experience for youth and mentors
The program follows clear expectations around boundaries, communication, and documentation
More details on Mentor eligibility, expectations, and the approval process are available in the Mentor Role Description linked below.
