Virtual Learning Support Update

Following the September Westwood incident, BGCWSA worked with Waynesboro Public Schools, UVA, families, and community partners to prepare a temporary daytime support option for students who were not yet ready to return to their school building.

As families moved through the recovery process, the number needing a separate daytime virtual learning location decreased significantly. Based on final family confirmations, there is no longer sufficient need to operate the separate daytime virtual support model originally planned for October 5.

BGCWSA continues to support families who may need help navigating school and community resources.

Our recovery and wellness supports have also expanded. An LPC now provides support at the Waynesboro Club twice each week, additional play therapy partnerships are being explored, and BGCWSA continues to coordinate behavioral health and wellness support with our UVA partners.
